Ridge High School’s 2025 Student Government: Past, Present and Prospective Plans

Aarya Raval ‘25

“Student Government’,’ as defined by Accredited Schools Online, is “a group of students that are charged with managing a wide range of events, activities, programs, policies and initiatives around school”. Ridge High School is one of the many high schools across the country that has this club. Each grade has their own student government, and this article’s focus will be on the freshman class’s student government, the class of 2025 Student Government.

At Ridge High School, the class of 2025 Student Government consists of President Aarya Raval, Vice President Jaidyn Riley, Secretary Angelina Huang, Treasurer Mahi Vadlamudi, Senators Nanditha Ram, Rhea Khattar, Chinmayi Joshi, Alexandra Arias, along with the teacher advisors, Stephanie Isaacson and Sydney McGivney. These students work hard towards raising money and setting up initiatives for their grade, and ultimately, raising money for their Junior Prom and other Senior Activities.

You may be wondering, how do they go about accumulating these funds? They have many fundraisers in place to help achieve this goal. For example, they are partnering up with Chipotle to hold a Dine-to-Donate fundraiser. Essentially, in this fundraiser there will be a certain period of time in which customers can order food, and a percentage of the proceeds will go towards the club’s funding. The Ridge class of 2025 Student Government’s Dine-to-donate is taking place on March 1st, 2022 at 4:00pm-8:00pm at 25 Mountainview Blvd, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. 33% of the proceeds will go towards the club. I encourage all of you reading this to attend the fundraiser, so that you can support the 2025 Student Government (plus, you have an excuse to eat delicious Chipotle food)! There is a flier attached at the end of this article, so if you choose to come to the fundraiser, you can show the Chipotle employees the flier while you order!.If you choose to order online, use the code AEEQZG3.

Not only is the Dine-to-Donate being held, but the 2025 Student Government is also selling merchandise to represent their class. T-shirts, hoodies, and sweatpants with creative designs will be sold at reasonable prices. We all encourage you to order these different items of clothing, so that you can support Ridge High School’s freshman class and walk around comfortably (while simultaneously looking super stylish)!

However, fundraising is not the only goal of the student government; the 2025 Student Government has been working with Mr. Scott Graber on an initiative to incorporate menstrual products into the restrooms at this school! There are many problems that are caused by a lack of access to menstrual products; according to npr.org, 80% of menstruating teens claim that they or someone they know has missed significant class time due to them not having access to period products. Not having proper access to menstrual products causes students to miss out on class time, feel self-conscious, and can even lead to physical health issues. The Ridge 2025 Student Government recognized these issues and decided to take action. So far, they have met up with Mr. Graber to discuss the idea of introducing pads into three of the school’s biggest bathrooms, and expanding from there if all goes well. Supplies were shipped to the school the week of February 20-February 27. Updates on this process will continue to be sent out! Though this idea is still a little bit up in the air, progress is being made and will hopefully lead to something great!

Overall, the student representatives of the class of 2025 have been working very hard with the teacher advisors to accomplish big things for the grade. The class of 2025 student government and I hope that you all recognize this and choose to support their initiatives by attending the Dine-to-Donate on March 1st and by ordering the merchandise that will be released soon.
