Triangular hats, scarves as belts, and apathetic faces have all plastered runways at some point–but some trends didn’t make it past the competitive hallways of Ridge. People—especially students—are creatures of expression, seeking to reflect their latest desires through beautiful fabrics.  As fall comes marching in, Ridge High School reflects the latest trends simply by wearing them.

Fall palettes mimic the leaves with bright colors, coming back this year as fire engine red, burnt orange, suede brown, and olive green. Fall colors are usually muted, but the addition of luxe saturation has renewed the season. The most popular color is olive green, shown on tunic dresses and men’s t-shirts. Paired with everything from boots to white Converse, students wear this versatile green in every way. Suede brown and burnt oranges also seem to pair nicely, as seen on the runways of Valentino and Chloe during the Autumn/Fall ‘15 shows. Fire engine and flaming reds light the hallways for a bright pop of color, usually on coats and dresses.

Boots reign supreme in the halls of Ridge High, rightfully claiming fall as “boot season.”  Ankle boots seem especially popular this year, ranging from rubber pull-tabs to high-heeled, buckled-up ankle boots. Spotted on Taylor Swift and Zendaya, ankle boots are a great companion to fall and the start of winter. Boots seen in Ridge are minimalist, classic, and militant. As for boys, Timberlands are an all-time favorite paired with khakis and, most recently, jean shorts.

For Katharine Elliott ’16, her favorite fall trend is “the coat—because it can make any outfit look fashionable and put together.”  Some standouts have been tailored coats and shiny puffer jackets. Unfortunately, coats are often left to languish in locker rooms, so students must catch a glimpse of this fall outerwear in the morning and late afternoon.

Ridge High showcases students’ creativity and expression. As students weave past each other on their way to class, glimpses of magic and style light the hallways. It’s really no wonder the students of Ridge High look so put-together; take a look in the mirror and congratulate yourself. Fall fashion is fleeting, but style never is.
